Grief & Bereavement
Ongoing Support Services for Survivors
Bereavement Support
All SSM Health at Home hospice patients and families are provided spiritual and grief support throughout the hospice period. Bereavement care continues to be provided to loved ones for an additional 13 months after the patient’s death. Bereavement services include telephone calls, visits, letters, support group meetings, and individual and group counseling. By respecting individual differences and cultural influences, our team helps family members express their grief in a positive way consistent with their social and religious beliefs.
Community Grief Support
Grief support groups may be available for anyone in the community who has experienced loss, regardless of whether your loved one was our patient or not.
Memorial Services
Memorial services may be offered to remember those patients who have passed away. Family and members of the community are invited to attend these services.
Children’s Grief Support
Our professional staff is committed to helping children and their families develop strategies for coping, communicating, and healing after the death of a loved one. Bereavement coordinators are available to help children work through their grief, helping them to acknowledge the death, identify their feelings, and preserve precious memories.
