How It Works

Before your TeleTouch exam, your records will be reviewed by a SLUCare Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician. When you come in for the appointment, you will see the TeleTouch system that allows the MFM physician to participate in your care. The sonographer in your room will perform your ultrasound while the MFM physician views the images in real-time. After the ultrasound, the physician will let you know what they see and what will let you know what they see and what they advise for follow-up treatment.

The MFM physician remotes into your exam from the control station located at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - St. Louis. The technology used for this service is the most advanced telehealth system available, and allows the physician to make a detailed analysis of your image. The design of the TeleTouch Control Center ensures your privacy is protected at all times.
