Types of Pediatric Appointments
There are three traditional types of pediatric appointments:
- Well child care visits: provide your child with comprehensive exams and immunizations important to their overall health and well-being
- Sick visits: same day appointments for your child when they’re experiencing acute illness symptoms
- Extended visits: longer appointments to address ongoing health concerns
Well Child Care
Routine well child care exams play a vital role in keeping your child healthy through the years. These exams provide an opportunity for your pediatrician to:
- Examine your child’s growth and development
- Discuss age-specific health, behavior and safety issues
- Provide routine immunizations, vision screening and lab work
- Address any questions you may have regarding your child’s health and development
Sick Visits
If your child is ill or you have any other concerns, don’t hesitate to call your pediatrician’s office. Our staff is well-equipped to address most of your questions or concerns or can set up an appointment, if necessary.
Extended Visits
If you have ongoing concerns about your child’s physical, emotional or social development, schedule an appointment for an extended visit with your pediatrician. During the appointment, you and your child’s pediatrician can discuss your concerns and determine the best way to proceed, including referrals to other specialists, if necessary.
