SSM Health Monroe Hospital is a 225,000 square-foot facility offering a nature-inspired design conducive to health and healing that opened in 2012. With a 58-bed operating capacity, our hospital services the medical, surgical, intensive care, emergency and obstetrical needs of patients in our region. SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group is a multi-physician practice with over 120 employed providers offering a broad range of health care services across 12 clinic locations. The main campus located in Monroe, Wisconsin opened a building expansion in 2019 and features an innovative Integrative Care Team functionality.
Residency Overview
SSM Health Monroe Hospital’s PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency was established in 2007, and highly emphasizes ambulatory care pharmacy practice. The residency’s primary goal is to prepare competent pharmacist clinicians for any of the following:
- Independent work in a clinic setting in collaboration with physicians
- Adjunct faculty positions
- PGY2 training
The resident will work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers and pharmacists, providing support to physician colleagues and assisting with pharmacist-run pharmacotherapy clinics managing medications through extensive collaborative practice agreements. The program has a strong teaching emphasis, including a learning experience as a clinical instructor in the pharmacotherapy lab at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy and completion of a teaching certificate program.
Residents participate in unique programs like public health outreach projects, professional development programs, and multidisciplinary presentations.
