Podiatric Residency Program
at SSM Health DePaul Hospital - St. Louis
SSM Health DePaul Hospital - St. Louis sponsors a 36-month (PMSR/RRA) accredited podiatric medicine and surgical residency program. The hospital provides educational experiences for residents in the form of supervised didactic and clinical settings, including semi-weekly clinical conferences, a journal club, and lecture series. The program employs five residents for each academic level, for a total of 15 residents in the entire program.
Additional Residency Information
Scheduled specialty rotations provide residents with multi-disciplinary exposure to quality patient care. Residents rotate through SSM Health DePaul Hospital’s Level II Trauma Center, which receives about 50,000 patients a year, including 6,000 pediatric patients.
During their time in the program, residents learn conservative and surgical podiatric foot and ankle skills and the latest management in wound care. The program’s affiliation with surrounding surgery centers helps to provide ample opportunity for surgical growth. There are approximately 50 attending physicians who work with residents in the program. The program provides learning experiences for both the residents and the community of professionals who work alongside them.
Residency Mission
The mission of the SSM Health DePaul Hospital podiatric residency program is to graduate highly educated and trained podiatric physicians to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care and ethical medical care with a lifelong commitment to educational progress.
