Uterine Cancer
Uterine cancer, also known as endometrial cancer, is the most common cancer found in the female reproductive system. The team at SSM Health Cancer Care is well equipped to treat both benign and malignant tumors of the uterus. You can rest assured that our doctors will provide you with the care you’re searching for.
Benign tumors of the uterus can account for conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis and endometrial hyperplasia. SSM Health’s cancer specialists know how to treat your benign tumors, all while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. Malignant tumors are more serious and require immediate attention.
Just as with other forms of cancer, uterine cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body.
Uterine Cancers We Treat
The two primary types of uterine cancer we treat are:
- Endometrial carcinomas: make up 95% of all uterine cancers; develops in the uterus lining
- Uterine sarcomas: accounts for only 2-4% of uterine cancers; develops in the uterine muscle (myometrium)

While some of these signs and symptoms may be caused by other conditions, it is important to bring these concerns to your doctor. If you are experiencing any of the above, contact your primary care doctor or OB/GYN and schedule an appointment to discuss potential next steps.
