We Honor Veterans

SSM Health at Home’s hospice is an accredited We Honor Veterans partner organization. The program assists health care providers throughout the country learn how to better care for patients with military service by recognizing the challenges they may be facing.

Every veteran has a unique life story and a unique set of needs. Through compassionate listening, grateful acknowledgment, and respectful inquiry, we aim to guide veterans and their families toward better health outcomes and a more peaceful end-of-life journey.

Veteran Pinning Ceremony

We conduct pinning ceremonies for veteran patients, should they desire one. During the ceremony we publicly acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by the veteran and their family. The ceremony also allows each veteran to share part of his or her story and gain a sense of meaning and purpose.

Become a Veteran Volunteer

Military veterans are part of a distinct culture with their own common language and experience. Many veterans receiving our services wish to connect with a volunteer who is also a veteran.
