Scholarships and grants are a wonderful way to help fund your education as they don’t have to be repaid when you graduate. The foundations and volunteers of SSM Health are honored to create and fund scholarships and grants for students seeking higher education in the health care field.
Scholarships & Grants Currently Available
In Baraboo, Wisconsin
SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo Foundation offers Healthy Community Partnership grants which provide funding for our projects, programs and activities that advance the health and wellness of those living in the greater Baraboo-Lake Delton-Wisconsin Dells area.
Those working on innovative ideas, collaborative projects or programs who need seed money to implement the project are encouraged to apply. The maximum grant award is $2,000 and the grants are awarded in two semi-annual cycles. The application deadline for the grants are April 15 and Oct. 15, with all funds awarded by June 15 and Dec. 15.
The SSM Health St. Clare Foundation - Baraboo's Healthy Community Partnership grant initiative began in 2007 and is funded by a portion of investment income earned from the Foundation's endowment. The endowment also funds medical equipment for SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo facilities, as well as local health care programs and services. To date, the Foundation has awarded $88,000 in Healthy Community Partnership Grants to community organizations and groups to promote well-being across the age spectrum.
Eligible programs and activities for funding include, but are not limited to, health education, disease screening, fitness and wellness assessment and improvement, research, speakers' fees related specifically to health and wellness and serving the area's underserved. The project must impact residents in SSM Health St. Clare's service area (the greater Baraboo-Lake and Delton-Wisconsin Dells area). Practitioners in all fields of health, educators and school districts, employers, civic organizations and service clubs are encouraged to apply. Collaborative proposals are always welcomed.

Scholarships Currently Available
In the Greater Fond du Lac Area
The SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Region volunteers, through the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, encourage area high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in health care to apply for scholarships offered by:
- SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary, Inc.
- SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Medical Staff
- Volunteers at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital - Fond du Lac
- Volunteers at SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital
The purpose of these awards is to encourage students who have shown excellence in scholastic achievement and demonstrated an interest in the pursuit of a health care career.
Scholarships are offered by the SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. and the The Arlene Fenner Family Endowed Scholarship Fund. Three $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship are being offered to eligible students attending Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton or Ripon high schools.
The SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital Medical Staff is offering three $2,000 scholarships to eligible students attending Green Lake, Markesan, Princeton or Ripon high schools interested in pursuing a health care career, as well as graduated students of those schools.
Volunteers are offering four $2,000 scholarships to eligible students who reside in the SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital - Fond du Lac service area and plan to attend a college or university in preparation for a health care career. One $1,000 scholarship is being offered to eligible students meeting the above criteria and pursuing an associates degree
The volunteers at SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital will award two $2,000 scholarship to high school seniors entering into an accredited Bachelor of Science program in any human health medical field.

In Jefferson City, Missouri
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation - Jefferson City sponsors three scholarship programs:
- For students seeking an educational degree in health care
This scholarship assists students currently enrolled in nursing and other allied health care academic programs. - For employees of the hospital seeking education or training
This scholarship can be used for independently established courses, professional accreditation or continuing education programs to further develop technical or professional abilities. - For enrolled nursing students at Lincoln University

Eligibility
- Be a college student enrolled in a nursing class in the Department of Nursing Science at Lincoln University (proof of enrollment is required).
- Have at least 30 completed hours in the Lincoln University Nursing Science program.
- Have permanent residence in Cole, Osage, Miller, Moniteau, Callaway, Gasconade, Maries, Camden, or Morgan counties.
- Hold a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or above, on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent rating on a comparative GPA scale.
- Exemplify the SSM Health values of compassion, respect, excellence, stewardship and community.
- Complete and submit all required information by the stated deadline.
Deadlines: March 1 and Oct. 1 by 4:30 pm
Eligibility
- Be a full- or part-time (benefits eligible) employee, in good standing, employed with SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for a minimum of 12 consecutive months.
- Be an employee seeking to develop his/her technical or professional abilities in an area identified as an appropriate need in the SSM Health St. Mary’s workforce.
- Show proof of enrollment, or be in the process of completing enrollment, in an independently established course, professional accreditation or continuing education program. You must also hold a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Submit a letter detailing the need and benefits of the education or training.
- Complete and submit all required information by the stated deadline.
Special memorial scholarships are available for labor-and-delivery nurses and end-of-life certification training on the Oct. 1 application.

Eligibility
- Must be a college, vocational or post-graduate student seeking a degree in a health care field.
- Have permanent residence in Cole, Osage, Miller, Moniteau, Callaway, Gasconade, Maries, Camden, or Morgan counties for at least one year prior to the application date, or be a dependent of an SSM Health St. Mary’s employee.
- Show proof of enrollment in an accredited technology center, junior college or degree granting institution. Applicants must also show evidence of acceptance to an academic program in a health care field.
- Show proof of having completed at least one-half of an established curriculum or degree program, prior to receiving the funds.
- Hold a minimum of a 3.2 GPA or above, on a 4.0 scale, or an equivalent rating on a comparative GPA scale.
- Complete and submit all required information by the stated deadline.
Scholarships Currently Available
In Monroe, Wisconsin & Northern Illinois
SSM Health Monroe Volunteer Services is once again offering scholarships for students seeking a career in the healthcare field. The deadline for application submission is February 29, 2024.
Requirements for both types of scholarships are the individual must be pursuing a degree or certificate in a healthcare related field, have a GPA of 3.25 or higher with an emphasis on science and math, and all applications must be typed. In no specific order, recipients will be selected based on citizenship, need and school & outside activities.
Students who have received a $500 scholarship in the past are eligible to apply for the advance study scholarship. However, an individual may only receive each scholarship once.

Volunteer Services awards four $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year. Two scholarships will be awarded to Monroe High School seniors and two scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors from communities with SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group sites – Albany, Brodhead, New Glarus, Durand, Freeport and Lena – or who live within an area serviced by a branch clinic or who have a parent that is employed by SSM Health.

The second type of scholarship is for continued education students. Applications for five $1,500 scholarships are available for SSM Health Monroe Hospital and SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group’s service area college students. Applicants must have completed at least one year of advanced study (beyond high school) in a health-related field and be a resident of a community of SSM Health Monroe Hospital or with an SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group location or an employee or child of an SSM Health employee.
